You Can’t Enforce Away Legal Cannabis Problems

Published Thu, 21 Nov 2024 22:54:25 GMT

You Can’t Enforce Away Legal Cannabis Problems Cannabis operators have faced the short end of the stick time and time again in the legal marketplace, but leaning back on the Drug War tactics of prohibition is never the answer. The plague of operators who have never smoked heat in their lives bashing people who never got the shot they wanted in the marketplace continues to grow. Most of the time, the people taking these shots at the traditional underground market are well-funded operators. They use “enforcement of the law” as a catch-all phrase to narc on the streets from state to state. The lack of enforcement, as they see it, is the root of their headaches. This is regardless of their product quality. It’s a lot easier to blame someone else to your investors. Those who have been participating in cannabis markets the longest have become the target of that ire. In the worst circumstances, they’d try and convince you all the cannabis grown outside of the legal marketplace is loaded with pesticides that will kill you and sold to yo...

Dimness of BART station called a factor in fatal dragging of passenger

Dimness of BART station called a factor in fatal dragging of passenger The dimness of BART’s Powell Street station was cited by investigators into the dragging death of a passenger after a train car’s doors closed on her dog’s leash.Though surveillance video confirmed the operator performed the required “look-back procedure” before the train left the San Francisco station, he did not see the passenger struggling with the railcar doors 611 feet behind him, said the report issued Feb. 28 by the National Transportation Safety Board. In the incident on Sept. 13, 2021, a 41-year-old San Francisco woman suffered fatal injuries when she was dragged along the platform and hit the gate at its end.The woman and her leashed dog had boarded the ninth of 10 cars of a Dublin-bound train at 3:13 p.m. The leash was clipped to her backpack. The woman then stepped back out of the car — witnesses said she was apparently waving to someone on the platform — and the dog remained inside. When the doors closed on the leash and the train...

Kurtenbach: Jordan Poole’s formula for success — less splash, more Shai

Kurtenbach: Jordan Poole’s formula for success — less splash, more Shai Jordan Poole’s season is not what anyone expected from the once-ascendant guard. As of Thursday morning, the so-called third member of the Splash Brothers is shooting 32.8 percent from beyond the arc on nearly eight such shots a game.Pair that with actively harmful defense and a propensity for bogarting the ball, and it’s a big problem for the Warriors as they attempt to make the playoffs and eventually advance in them. The positives might be fleeting with Poole, but Wednesday’s game against the Mavericks hinted at how the fourth-year guard can positively affect the contest, even if his shooting from distance remains sub-par.Poole needs less “Splash” and to be more Shai. That’s Shai, as in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City’s brilliant point guard who deserves serious MVP consideration this season.Related ArticlesGolden State Warriors | Kurtenbach: Jonathan Kuminga has arrived, and perhaps the Warriors have, too Golden State...

Man targeted by J6 conspiracists demands retraction from Fox By Oliver Darcy and Marshall Cohen | CNNAn attorney for Ray Epps, the Arizona man that January 6 conspiracy theorists falsely claim led an FBI plot to orchestrate the insurrection, demanded an on-air retraction Thursday from Fox News and its right-wing talk host Tucker Carlson, and claimed they made “false and defamatory statements” about him.“The fanciful notions that Mr. Carlson advances on his show regarding Mr. Epps’s involvement in the January 6th insurrection are demonstrably (and already proven to be) false,” the attorney, Michael Teter, wrote in the letter. “And yet, Mr. Carlson persists with his assault on the truth.”The letter from Teter demanded a formal retraction and on-air apology “for the lies” that have been spread about Epps on the channel. In the aftermath of the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, conspiracy theorists baselessly suggested that the assault was a so-called “false flag” operation staged...

Review: ‘Clue’ is a seriously silly murder mystery romp at SF Playhouse

Review: ‘Clue’ is a seriously silly murder mystery romp at SF Playhouse Inspired by Agatha Christie-style drawing room murder mysteries, the board game “Clue” has been a cultural staple ever since 1949. (It was initially created in England by Anthony E. Pratt as “Cluedo,” the name by which the game is still known outside of North America.)The play “Clue,” now onstage at San Francisco Playhouse, is a couple of steps removed from the Hasbro board game. Written by Sandy Rustin (with additional material by Hunter Foster and Eric Price), it’s a very faithful adaptation of the 1985 cult classic Paramount Pictures movie based on the game. This stage version premiered in 2020 at Cleveland Play House and was named by American Theatre magazine as the third most produced play in U.S. theaters this season, aside from Shakespeare.Hillbarn Theatre did the play in Foster City last June, Center Repertory Company produced it in Walnut Creek in October, and a high school edition has been making the rounds for a few years. Aside from the source material, it’s unrelated to ...

California flooding victims cleared to return to ravaged farm town Monterey County authorities Thursday morning lifted evacuation orders for the flood-ravaged farm town of Pajaro, allowing residents to return to their homes in most cases for the first time since they were forced to flee in the middle of the night March 11 after a levee failed and inundated their community. But county officials who lifted the orders at 10 a.m., a day earlier than they had indicated Wednesday, cautioned that Pajaro is still far from livable, with no water or sewer service and many homes requiring restoration work.“There are health risks to people returning to Pajaro,” a Monterey County notice said. “The county and Pajaro Sunny Mesa Services are working diligently to restore the sewer system. There is no potable water and toilets can’t be flushed. It isn’t recommended that residents stay until sewer and water are restored. Those entering the area do so at their own risk.”Related ArticlesWeather | Battered California faces ...
